Diego Cañizal (Spain)

Diego Cañizal is a Spanish screenwriter, analyst and teacher based in Bogotá, Colombia. He co-wrote the screenplay for El Piedra, a feature film by Colombian director Rafael Martínez Moreno, released in 2019 and acquired by HBO, as well as the screenplays for La granja, a fiction feature film by Panamanian director Alberto Serra, and Nocaut, a documentary feature film by Colombian director José Varón, both in post-production. Diego is the co-creator and screenwriter of the miniseries Una sensación extraña, by Colombian director David Herrera, as well as associate producer of the documentary El árbol de Matías, by Colombian director Pilar Perdomo, and screenwriter of the animation project Desechable, winner in 2019 of a development grant for animated feature films from the Colombian Film Development Fund (FDC). Diego is also a script and project analyst for various public and private entities and currently teaches screenwriting at the National Film School (ENACC) in Bogotá.
